Bollards

Protect and secure

GHM proposes a selection of several ductile cast iron anti-ram raid bollards that, in certain defined installation configurations, are capable of stopping ram raids.

This application mainly targets light vehicles and utilities or 4-wheel drive vehicles.
In the absence of reference legislation covering this relevant issue, GHM has appointed a specialised laboratory, recognised in the development and assessment of road safety equipment, to carry out calculations and simulations using some of its ductile cast iron models.

The analyses from this laboratory indicate the conditions in which such a vehicle could be stopped, subject to installation being done in accordance with GHM recommendations: these bollards are capable of withstanding an impact of 240,000 joules while suffering possible damage to certain parts (this value is the equivalent of stopping a 1,500 kg vehicle at a speed of 64 km/h).

It should be noted that a 20,000-joule impact for the type of vehicle in question (light vehicles and vans or 4-wheel drive vehicles) is already sufficient to physically endanger occupants. Bollards installed in this configuration are therefore a real deterrent.

For such a situation, GHM supplies:

• A cast iron bollard

• A steel H profile frame to be embedded

• A cover for mounting on the bollard after installation of the body and H profile

• A set of descriptive installation recommendations

As well as performing its obvious security function, this solution is also relatively discreet and is the same size as traditional fixed or lighting bollards (depending on the model).

This configuration can be created using bollard models from the Rochelongue, Urbino, Typhon, Altis, Escalis and Place de la Bourse families
